About Shera Care
Shera Care is a public benefit corporation building a new model of intensive perinatal mental health care that centers families, lived expertise, clinical excellence, equity, and community. Our mission is to expand access to specialized treatment- fostering recovery, resilience, and community for new families - while removing barriers to care. Shera was founded by a postpartum psychosis survivor and seasoned business executive determined to build the care she wished her family had- and that every family deserves. Shera Care is working to strengthen the care continuum between traditional outpatient therapy and crisis care for pregnant and postpartum individuals, helping patients and families not only recover, but also strengthen relationships, find community and heal. Our model brings together two complementary pillars: Care Delivery and Care Access. Through technology-enabled care access supports alongside specialized intensive treatment, we're building pathways that improve access, continuity of care, and recovery support for families who need a higher level of mental health care. At Shera, we believe every family deserves timely access to high-quality, family-centered mental health care that heals - not harms.
Role Details
Are you passionate about clinical excellence, public health, and the opportunity to build a new model of mental health care for mothers and babies from the ground up? Before Shera Care welcomes its first patient, we have an important job to do: translate our clinical vision into a safe, evidence-based, patient-centered treatment program that is ready to serve mothers and families. We're seeking a Founding Clinical Lead who is excited to roll up their sleeves and make that happen. This is a hands-on role - not a traditional advisory position - for an experienced perinatal mental health clinician to lead the clinical development and help us launch our first perinatal intensive treatment clinic in Massachusetts.
Working closely with Shera Care’s Founder & CEO, Kriti Lodha, and clinical advisors, including Dr. Nancy Byatt and Dr. Maithri Ameresekere, the Founding Clinical Lead will take ownership of tangible clinical deliverables, helping develop and operationalize the curriculum, workflows, quality standards, metrics, and processes needed for clinical, regulatory, and payer readiness. At Shera Care, we believe in the power of centering clinical excellence, equity, and lived expertise to build better systems of care. We're looking for someone who shares these values, is patient-centered, entrepreneurial, and brings the clinical experience, judgment, attention to detail, and practical execution skills to make that vision a reality.
Responsibilities
The Founding Clinical Lead will lead mutually agreed-upon, prioritized clinical deliverables, with scope and timelines subject to initial consulting commitment, in partnership with Shera’s CEO and advisors:
1. Clinical Model & Curriculum: Refine Shera's clinical model, including admission and discharge criteria, as well as our weekly evidence-based, family-centered perinatal IOP curriculum.
2. Regulatory Readiness & Compliance: Help establish the clinical requirements, policies, and processes needed to support licensure, applicable accreditation standards, and payor readiness.
3. Clinical Operations: Develop clinical protocols and standard operating procedures for supervision, case review, professional development, and team workflows to support safe, coordinated, high-quality patient care that bridges the gap between outpatient and crisis care.
4. Clinical Outcomes & Evaluation: Develop approaches to evaluating clinical outcomes and program effectiveness, patient experience, access, equity, and pilot performance.
5. Clinical Leadership & Strategic Collaboration: Represent Shera's clinical perspective in select meetings with healthcare partners, funders, and payors, while serving as a strategic thought partner to the Founder & CEO on key business, partnership, technology, and hiring decisions.
Future Growth Opportunity: While this is initially a part-time paid consulting engagement (contracted up to 12 hours a month), scope and time commitment may expand as Shera progresses toward pilot launch, depending on organizational needs, funding, and mutual fit and interest. For the right candidate, this engagement offers the opportunity to help build Shera Care’s clinical foundation, with the potential to grow into a longer-term Clinical Director or Medical Director role as the organization evolves.
